Unseen privacy policy

Data stays in your browser

Unseen stores site identifiers, video identifiers, watched percentages, video duration, timestamps, manual hide states, blocked creator identifiers, keyword and tag rules, and preferences in the extension’s local IndexedDB database.

It reads video titles, creator links, tags and playback information on supported pages to apply your rules. Titles, complete video URLs and page content are not saved in the watch database or sent to the developer.

The extension does not send network requests, use analytics, collect an account identity, synchronize records, load remote code, or sell or share your data. Websites and your browser continue to make their own requests independently of Unseen.

Your choices

You can pause filtering, remove a watch record, remove blocking rules, export a JSON backup, import a backup, or delete all data from Settings. Deletion clears Unseen’s data and resets preferences. The extension can record new playback after deletion if filtering remains enabled.

Exports are unencrypted files that include sensitive viewing records. Store them securely. Deleting extension data does not delete backups you previously downloaded. For a permanent browser installation, uninstalling removes the local database; reinstalling does not restore it without your backup. Firefox temporary add-ons can retain local storage after removal. Use Delete all data in Settings when you want to clear the candidate’s records.

History retention

Watch records are kept indefinitely by default. You can choose a 90, 180 or 365 day retention period in Settings. Older watch records are removed based on when they were last seen, and changing to a shorter period requires confirmation before deletion. Manually hidden videos, creator blocks and text rules are kept until you remove them.

Expired records are cleaned when history is accessed or when retention settings or imported data change. The extension can record a video again if you play it after its record has been removed.

Permissions and supported pages

Unseen runs on www.youtube.com, www.pornhub.com and jp.pornhub.com. Access is used only to identify video cards, read actual playback coverage, apply filtering, and show controls. It does not access other websites, read passwords, or read the browser history database. Private browsing is disabled for this release.

Commercial features

Version 0.8.0 has no ads, affiliate links, partner offers or payments. Any future change to these practices will require an extension update and an updated policy.

Limited use and contact

Unseen uses information from supported pages only to provide its visible filtering and local history features, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
